The ceramics is an inorganic composed material, not metallic used to produce different objects. Usually white, it can be colored and enamelled.
The terracotta products created by Piral are the perfect synthesis between raw materials accurately  selected and old technical wisdom and a great creativity. They try to satisfy the most modern requests of the client being manufactured with totally echo-compatible elements. Our products guarantee extreme naturalness, thanks to their great versatility being appropriate to put directly on fire, in the oven, in the microwave, in the dishwasher and then thanks to their termocoduction capacity.
 It all  goes  placed side by side to the “elegance in the tradition”, that has stimulated the Piral center design to realize modern shapes and colours always respecting the tradition, with typical Italian style. This means also a long tradition and a huge know how on the  production of natural clay pots and pans.
Concerning the characteristics  our products (pots and pans) can be directly used on flame (gas), electrical sources , traditional or microwave, oven, and further more on vitro ceramic stove top. No problems at all with the dishwasher.
All our products  are completely natural, no kind of toxically elements can be detected, and all the products are environmentally compatible. We have a range of colours,   which can give a very elegant touch in the kitchen and in the same time to the dining room.

The clay work.

Before being used, clay, originates from quarry in the Northern Italy, suffers some trials immediately after the extraction:

1. purification treatment to eliminate the impurities which could be dangerous to contact with the food;
2. seasoning with cycles exposure warm and cold to facilitate the grinding in special mills;
3. addition of elements that confer the particular ownerships of resistance to the flame. These ownerships are necessary for the employment to direct contact with sources of heat to tall temperature (methane flames, electric plates, microwave ovens, etc…).
4. very thin grinding that produces a very dust thin, propered to be shaped in the various forms with smooth surfaces and suitable to bright enamelling.

We preserve clay in big silos and we transport it to the knead that mix it with water; we remove from the clay possible beads of air that could make the product frail.

Now the product is moulded through manual and mechanical operations. We use special steel or plaster cast to obtain various form and than the pots will be completed and perfected by man’s intervention: our workers touch up each model and they apply handles.
Now the products must be desiccate because they  still maintain in them a percentage of residual water. Now the manufactured articles can be cooked for some hours at 1000 degree.

After, the articles are further perfected by polishing and they are ready  to be painted. There are two different procedure: for the inside there is a machine who spray the wall of the pot of enamel called “cristallina”, for the external the worker dip each pot into small tub containing paint.

When the paint is dry, there is the second and last cooking, also this time at 1000 degree. Now the pots are ready to be pack and sent to our clients.
